Gary Gitnick, M.D.
Dr. Gary Gitnick was appointed to the Division of Licensing by Governor
Gray Davis in 2000. A 1963 graduate of the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Gitnick is a
professor of medicine and Chief of the Division of Digestive Diseases at the University of California, Los Angeles
School of Medicine. After completion of an internship at Johns Hopkins University, he completed Internal Medicine
and Gastroenterology subspecialty training at the Mayo Clinic, and three years as a Research Associate at the National
Institutes of Health. He is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and a member of the American College
of Physician Executives.
Dr. Gitnick joined the faculty at UCLA in 1969. He has served as Chief of Staff of the UCLA Medical Center and as medical director of the UCLA Health Care Programs.
